BAND

Chronos is a six member acoustic rock group based out of Springfield, Missouri. Ear-catching and head-turning, their sound is a tasty concoction of influences ranging from Dave Matthews to Sting. Blending rock, jazz, and blues to conceive a creative musical encounter that is both unique and energetic, Chronos is artful and intense. And yet at eh same time, thought provoking lyrics, penned by lead vocalist and bassist Doug Ray, take the listener on a journey of encouragement and reflection, a journey of hope that Jesus Christ can bring to any situation.

Quality musicianship and striking cohesion are two trademarks of Chronos, both inspired by their collective belief that they serve a God of excellence. Each musician relentlessly strives to sharpen their skills and fuse those talents with their fellow band mates, a symphonic marriage best experienced firsthand. Drummer Jesse Menditto and guitarist Chris Blackard propel the live set, balanced by the atmospheric piano and organ of Chris Franklin. Woven amidst intelligent lyrics and refined melodies are the seemingly spontaneous instrumental jam sessions and solos of Nick Wright's saxophone and the electric violin of Heather Daugherty. Scratching your head, it's hard to believe that such a tightly delivered sound could come from a band so young. But then again...

Chronos dedicated over a year and a half to practice and studio time producing their self-titled debut release which was completed in April 2002. The result is an impressive independent accomplishment that leaves you eager to hear what will come next from a band whose high standards of excellence for themselves may just challenge those of the music industry as we know it...

AFRICA'S CHILDREN

Each member of Chronos sees our music as an outward expression of our walk with God and out interaction with Him. We focus on serving God and touching people through our particular gifts.

In an ever-increasing desire to be useful -- in every way possible - Chronos has forged a new ministry partnership with Africa's Children. Africa's Children is a ministry of compassion and evangelism focused on over 350 million children under the age of fifteen on the African continent. Through HIV/AIDS awareness training and literature, childcare facilities, feeding programs, disaster relief, street children rehabilitation, and many other types of outreach, Africa's Children, we strongly believe, is making a difference in the lives of kids across that continent.

Plans are being made at this time for a Chronos? Africa's Children Africa Tour in the near future. We will sing and play, provide instrumenta clinics, interact, play and pray with and for the kids of Africa. We're excited and want to share our excitement with you.

Africa's Children is yet another doorway of service for Chronos. We think we'll make a great team. Why not join us?
